Retail Price on a '92 SC400
Hey everyone,
What is a fair price for a '92 SC400? I'm thinking of selling mine to get a larger car (GS or LS) since I have an SC430 also. It's pretty much optioned out (Nakamichi, 12 disc CD, spoiler, phone, etc...). There are a couple minor blemishes on the exterior (dings) and the only problem with the interior is that my gauges/needles are burning out. I have over 158k miles on the car.

maybe
maybe like $10K for the high end 8750 low end, i bought mine 92 sc4 92K miles for 11500, fully loaded just like yours, all needles still work. and for mine i was thinking of getting rid of it, lexus offered me only 7000 for it, i just hit 100K miles though, i hope that helped. The only thing i see is that as these cars get older, the retail value goes down but to us, our attachement to them gets greater and when the guy at lexus offered me 7000 for it, and then i looked out the show room window at it, staring back at me freshly waxed, shining brighter then any other new lex that they had on the lot, i realized that only the owner sees the true value in his automobile. And thus, if your older SC runs anything like mine, my asking price would be around $30,000! For we are not just selling a Lexus but we are selling them a whole new driving experence.

I just went to an independent expert to get an estimate on my car's market value. I need that to finally get insurance on my car (there's no such thing as the blue book around here). It's a 93 with 120k miles. And guess what the estimate is ...
40k USD
Well that's not really going to help ya I know, but I'm sure you'll understand that I'm kind of exited.
Anyway, wouldn't the prices on www.autotrader.com give you a pretty good idea of what your car is worth?

Well, I did some research and Kelly Blue Book had my car listed at $8,775 (which I thought was a little low). With the exact same criteria, Edmunds had a Dealer Retail of $13,306, Private Party at $10,295 and Trade-in at $8,560. Since I do have upgrades (Greddy exhaust, eibachs, 12" Soundstream sub built in the floor of the trunk, 500 watt Soundstream amp and a dual zone alarm), I think a fair price to ask will be somewhere in the $9-10k range.
