Default Where is the factory amp?

Where is the factory amp in our cars? Is it under the 6 disc changer in the trunk and if so how do I remove the changer. Or is it on the rear deck where the factory sub and speakers are? Thanks, adam

Default Here's how the changer is mounted:

If you have the Nakamichi stereo, the only amp is below the CD player. The Pioneer stereo has a small woof amp next to the woof.

You can clearly see the mounting points on the pic below. This is one pic from a 36-pic sequence that CL member DuB posted earlier this year. You can see them all at:

The amp is next to the spare tire, right underneath the CD changer. The thing is, if you want to remove the amp and rewire it to your own amp, you'd have to cut the plus to the amp and wire them accordingly. Some people in So Cal knows hows to do it and so I just took it to them. Good luck with yours!

What I did rather than tear up the factory clips was to just use piggy back clips on the wires so the factory plugs were left intact just incase you ever want to put the factory equipment back.
