Hey wasup guys. I need some advice on how much I should pay for this sc300 5spd. It has 131k and he is asking for $4500. I am pretty low on money. How much do you guys think i should offer him? I haven't seen this car in person yet b/c i live about 250 miles away and will probably be taking a train there. This will be my second sc and i will be putting a turbo kit into it. My plans are 6psi for now. Do you guys think this is a good candidate?

^ cuz 98+'s are hard to mod. Other than the diy hack-job BFI the two easiest production mods are SRT Intake and IMF Headers, both of which are (on sale) $500, but usually both closer to $700. I dunno, but for me personally $1400 for MAYBE 20hp is a little much.
That and I know sc4demon has been looking for a 5spd for a lil while. I know exactly where he's coming from. The vvt-i is fun, but not cheap to mod, and eventually you get bored of the auto.
I'd say bring $4000, offer him $3500 and go from there. But 96SC4 is right. You really need to see/drive it first before you can really say..

You say you are low on money? How do you expect to afford a turbo kit with proper tune etc. plus any maintenance items you need for the car? I guess I'm not understanding why you are purchasing this car

I guess i should have made it clearer....maintenance is not a problem i have a lot of hook ups on that and i already have a full turbo kit just sitting in my closet, the only thing i need is just a downpipe and intercooler piping. I'm just low on funds to actually buy the car. ![Thumb Up](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)

That's how it is around here. These cars are pretty high demand if they are clean. A 5-speed is even more likely to move fast, obviously. It sucks because you almost have to rush in and ****** them before they are gone, which sometimes doesn't leave a lot of time to think, or thoroughly check the car out.
I hunted for LONG time for mine. Almost had a couple that sold within a day of listing. I finally got mine, but only because I cruised craigslist and auto trader with such frequency that I was able to secure the car the day after it listed.
Keep your head up man, and at least you already have that 400

Yes I agree 100%----just fix up your 98.
Dont the 98's come stock with 290 hp?
And to spend $4000.00 on this car plus the cost of installing the turbo and who knows what else----i dont know man --doesnt add up for me-----I would say 100% stick with your 98.
To me it isnt even a debate.
Anytime your buying a used car it is a roll of the dice---u may end up with more problems on your hand than anything.
And you say money is an issue--------98 all the way---no question.
