The glory of having HID lights...
...especially on glass high beams (found on '95+ models) is that no one wants to stay too close, too far or just straight out in front of you for too long.
I'm not trying to sound like an Jack-*** here, but 6k HID's on glass high beam lens can sure come in handy at night when you need other cars to get out of your way or when trying to get back at someone for cutting you off.

with PnP hids in your highbeam housings everytime you flick to highbeams you have to wait for them to warm up, and frequently turning them off and on isn't that great for the ballast or bulbs, most of the time you need your hids on and off quickly for dark roads with oncoming traffic..
not saying they wouldn't be useful at times you mentioned.

I always though HID highbeams kinda sucked unless you have bixenons.
