Default side marker question

On my 92 sc400, I noticed one side uses what is the correct (according to sylvania) bulb 168ll which is a very small bulb, on the other side, it is just hanging and there is what looks like an 1157 bulb in it. My question is, it looks like it is possible to pull the socket apart and connect a different type of socket to the harness. Is this correct? The 1157 bulb is way to big to even fit through the side marker hole. if this is right, where can I get the proper socket?

The side marker bulb is a 168 bulb. Ur local auto parts store would carry the sockets. U would need to cut the 1157 socket off, splice be wires and reattach the new 168 socket. But before u go cutting away make sure that ur not looking at the wrong socket because the bumper lights that r also coming from that harness is a 1157.so make sure that ur not looking at the socket for the bumper lights.
