Finally got my RSP!
Hello ladies and gentlemen!
Long story short...had a 95 black on black SC300 that I wrecked about 6 years ago. Bought an 05 4Runner to get me around. In the meantime I also purchased a 90 Accord that I replaced with a 93 Legend Coupe GS for sharing miles w/ the 4Runner but I got rid of them both due to mechanical/cash issues.
Ever since I was in college I remember reading about the Royal Sapphire Pearl and how beautiful/rare it was. Of course my first preference would be a 97 SC300 RSP 5 speed with black interior but those are few and far between. So as a "consolation" prize I just purchased/shipped a 1997 SC400 RSP with black interior and 43K in immaculate condition (I've heard that these are quite rare also...5 ever made in this combo?). I'm talking you can eat off of the engine bay, the paint is perfect, it was always serviced by a Lexus dealer and even the timing belt/water pump maintenance was done two years ago!
I just wanted to relay my excitement to you all, since everyone else in my life apparently thinks I'm crazy for dropping 12K on a 13 year old car. And I'm sure even some of you SC enthusiasts will cry bloody murder for paying a premium for RSP (I've read all the RSP posts lol). But hey if it makes you happy, it can't be that bad right?
Regardless, keep up the passion for these timeless beauties and be safe out there. I work as a firefighter and HATE to see them in accidents or cut up for the purpose of patient extrication.
Enjoy the arrival pics and see you all out there!
