There is a right way to do your suspension and a wrong way. (junior, none of anything below is towards you, just speaking my opinion)
Cutting/Heating/using springs on the wrong shocks are all the WRONG way, and IMO makes you seem to cheap to own your SC. Seriously if your too cheap to do your suspension properly, Im only wondering what kind of CRAP your going to put in your engine come maintenance time.
Get it straight people. You want a crappy car, go ahead and cut your springs or heat them till they collapse, but drive the thing on private roads with no one else around so when something does go wrong, your the only one that dies.
It does not matter if you cut 1 coil, or 1/2 coil, bottom line is your still changing the physical characteristics of the springs, even if you think its a "dead" coil, a physical change is being made and it was never meant or designed for that. And about heating them, Im not even going to go there, just sell your SC.
I find it very hard to believe that this thread and all of its ignorance is still going. And those of you who have cut your springs, you got lucky, so your car rode smoothly, big F-ing deal. In the end, its still a cheap, unsafe way to lower your car.

The fact is alot of people will tell you that they heated their springs or cut their springs with no negative side effect-------but that doesnt change the fact that is it not the proper way to do it.
On a heavy --luxury car like the the sc I feel it is important to do it the right way---or dont do it at all-------the springs are not very expensive from what ive seen---and the end result will be much better
Dont cut or heat the springs------its just not the right way to go about it.
And did someone earlier say that track cars cut their springs------I find that very hard to believe---doesnt make sense to me.
Thanks

ya def dont cut the springs bro. the guy who my buddy bought my car from cut the springs on it and all i hear are the springs moving around in the struts. its so annoying. currently saving for some coilovers now. def lower the car the right way. sell the aftermarket wheels and buy ur springs and then save for proper fitment wheels. just my opinion

Has anyone bothered to mention how much research and development Toyota/Lexus must've gone into to make sure that the suspension was right and safe for our cars? Not to mention the same R&D than a great deal of these aftermarket companies put into their products so that they're no liable for deaths resulting from use of their products. (Although we won't mention the sticking accelerators, that's another subject for another place)
