Default Anyone blacked out their chrome window trims?

So the chrome trim going around the outside of my windows is kinda chipped and overall just dull and looks dated. Has anyone tried painting it the same color as their car or replacing it with a black trim or something? I tried some coarse grit sandpaper on a small section of it and had very little results.. Any Ideas????

Yes it does, all the altima guys use the 3m blackout tape and it comes out great. Just take your time around corners.

Blacked out the chrome trim using vinyl. 2.5tsoarer did this for me and had the vinyl pieces pre-cut to contour the SC. He is no longer on here but if you need to get in touch with him just let me know and I can assist.

Did the same thing on my white SC. I just went to Pep Boys and brought their black out tape. It was under $5 and one roll was enough with plenty more left over

I did not do a great job at the corners though, I just over lapped them. Figure nobody will ever really look at it closely. And this is not really a mod the is suppose to grab your attention. So it works for me

just bought my car and the outside door pillars were chrome. got some flat black vinyl and covered it up. looks much better. guess ill get more vinyl and do the rest of the window trim. i cut vinyl for a living so if theres enough interest, i can probably cut the window outlines to make this an easy DIY project.

How did it cost? I've been thinking about doing this ever since I first saw your SC. It looks clean.

Honestly, I've seen a lot of new cars with matte 3M vinyl wrapped around their window trims. I know my GF's Honda Fit has the window trim wrapped from the factory. My old Mazdaspeed Protege was the same way. Just buy any high performance matte black vinyl online and make it a DIY project. It's not that difficult with a little soapy water, exacto, and a heat gun. If you're in the norther Virginia area, give me a shout and I can help.

that looks great... I'll keep the chrome personally but I like em both... I know Honda/ Acura use vinyl tape to cover belt moldings, window moldings, etc. from the factory so as long as u take your time you can have a good looking finished product like pictured
