In my opinion, it all matters on where you live and the roads you travel on.
I envy my West Coast members. They can drop their cars 2-3 inches, and never worry. About snow, and extreme potholes.
Here in the East Coast, we have bad unforgiving roads, and terrible weather.
I had 18's that were too small, then I've tried two sets of 20's, (which gave me the "DONK" look) without a kit, and now i'm looking for the perfect set of 19's and then I plan on getting it kit'd up.
Here's my word to the wise:
(92-96) 18's-19's lowered, 20's are too big without a spoiler kit
(97-00) 19's-20's lowered is cool
(92-96) must have a kit to pull off 20's

I think that look/style/color/shine is as important as size if you're looking to put on 20s. So basically, quality... not quantity. I have a 95, no body kit, stock height, and running 20s, and I don't think they look out of place at all.
