Good buy or not?

Good buy or not?
Hey Guys,
I plan to go look at this car tomorrow. Has anyone seen this car around? Based on what the owner says, the blue smoke sounds like just the valve stem seals need to be replaced.
Good or bad buy? I'm a bit surprised that not one person has shown interested on his post yet.

I plan to go look at it tomorrow. Thanks for the help.

There have been a couple things revealed in the post that could be potential problems, it's all about how much you trust another person's project. If you're mechanically inclined, give it a drive and feel it for yourself...if there's any doubt in your mind I'd say pass. For $7500 you could buy a nice stock with reasonably low miles, or one for cheaper and do the 1JZ swap yourself, so you know exactly how it was put together. $0.02.

That seems like a good car other than the blue smoke which indicates bad rings, might need to pull the engine and have the rings changed, other than that it's a decent car, stock 1j means the engine is not likely too badly abused and the interior looks to be in decent shape. Black on black is hard to come by.

Hell No!! I just picked up a 98' SC300 in Delaware with 70k on the odo for 8,500. White diamond and tan/spruce interior were flawless. Private owner on Autotrader.com
I'd go with the OEM car. Picture it like this:
"Its all about the journey with these cars, not the destination." Start YOUR OWN projects. These SC's are an aftermarket dream! Just my .02 cents.

I agree 100 percent.
Bad idea buying someone elses project. There is a reason the car is for sale and not being fixed up.
Buying a car that is blowing blue smoke is a serious no no.
The interior looks rough and it lookes like even the woodgrain on the passenger door is cracking pretty bad.
I dont see one positive with this car-----miles arent very low--interior is in poor condition--engine blowing blue smoke--trans mount loose----who knows what else...................there is no question here....I wouldnt touch it with a ten foot pole.
Politely pass on this one.

I didnt even see the price the first time------7800 dollars.......
7800 dollars plus the cost of fixing the engine---trans mount---interior---and god knows what else--------no offense but this would be a ridiculous and foolish purchase.
No Fxxxing way.
Good luck---I hope you can find a good clean stock car for a decent price---hopefully with lower miles.
