Ok,......
Now I am curious as to what mine runs. I had a lead sled Z28 conv auto Camaro bone stock and that pig ran 14.000000's all day long. Thanks guys now I have to take mine to the track over in Gainesville to see what she will do......Isn’t it funny how you never quite grow out of this stuff......it's like a virus....
I'll let you know how it does....
Take it easy.. Brian

1/4 Mile Times
Speaking of quarter mile times, how much would it cost to get a stock SC300 to the stock quarter mile time of an SC400? Any thoughts? I heard under $1500, but that sounds ridiculous to me.

1992 V8.
I have driven stock cars that vary a lot - don't know why.
eg
1993 - quick
1994 - slow
1991 some slow medium and quick.
I drove another UZZ30 (RHD with same coils as US spec) and it was real slow.
Some Soarers get up and go and others take their time
Doesn't make sense to me why they are so different. If it is not mechanical/electrical then perhaps it is the ECM setting different fuel timing based on sensor inputs.
But you've had your ECM tuned.
The Japanese Toyota video shows stock cars getting just over 16 seconds.
More questions than answers isn't there?

I was able to shave a massive 0.5 secs going from 0-50 km/hr (0-30 mph) by changing to a Blitz ECM.
It was a very rich mixture. Rich fuel is great for taking off, bad for top end.
The full thread with all the discussion is on the ALSC.

Perhaps you could look at dumping more fuel in low down in the rev range for stronger off the line performance.
You get the same effect going hard on a cold morning when it is in fuel enrichment mode. Since you have thin synthetic oil you could give it a blast when cold without hurting the engine - I think you'll notice the difference.
I have seen some aftermarket ECM's tuned to give a lean mixture the whole time - good power up top but a bit sluggish off the line.

So what that we heard about 5.0L conversions, do you know a place in US that can do it? Can you point a shop where I can get the turbo or SC kit installed for reasonable price?

Mine leaves the mixture alone in the low RPM ranges, then leans out into the higher RPMs. I wonder if dumping even more fuel into the motor at low ranges would produce some low-end kick. A trap speed that fast just doesn't make sense. He'd have to be putting 217 KW (292 HP) to the WHEELS to get one of these things going that fast in the quarter mile. Stock? no way.

I know this is really old, but I went to the track last night.
stock sc400 75000 miles. recently tuned up last month.
quarter mile times were 15.61 and 15.7.
there was another sc there. i think it was a 92. He only had an intake but had a 15.2.
Similar to Max's times.
Maybe an intake does help?
It was also nice and cool last night.

Yeah, I was over at the Gainesvile Raceway two nights ago with the sc...it was a sad night....I wasn't having a good driving night to begin with, but the fastest time i managed to scrounge up was a 16.6. It was terrible, my '68 Camaro buddy was making fun because he was running 14.7s....jeez, I think i let the lexus rep down that time.....tear.... so much work to do.

My 1/4 miles on 96 sc300
I tested my 96 sc300 on Saturday with my new mod. 1/4 miles was 14.8 at 105mph. It spins every time I took off so I think I might be able to reduce the time when I have a bigger rear tires. The only mod on my car was K&N intake but I trick my air mass sensor a little. Here is my trick. After the air mass sensor, I drilled a hole about 1” inches. Then purchased 1”inches pipe at a hardware store and I also purchased a small K&N air filter (breather) at auto part store. This mod only cost $16.00 dollars. Note: If you have performance rear end exhaust, it will not give you any additional power accepts for better sound. I keep my exhaust system stock unless I have time to put in a turbo kit from Greddy.

A near-stock SC3 or 4 just can't trap that fast. The only way that could work is with a huge shot of nitrous or a gutted car.

105mph is a VERY FAST TRAP SPEED. We are talking in the range of 300+rwhp. 14.8 is quick but would only need around 230rwhp. The stock SC300 is 225hp FLYWHEEL and MAYBE 175hp at the wheels. The "mod" of bypassing the MAF would lean an engines A/F ratio. Possibly lean enough to either damage the car. IF, and we are talking a HUGE "IF" you were able to get the A/F absolutely perfect for a max power increase by running as lean as possible... you MAY be able to add 20rwhp... MAYBE. This type of mod is NOT safe. I realize people are tempted to try ANYTHING that so and so did to go fast... Please, do not hack your car up like this. Nitrous is SAFER (not 100% safe just safer than this kind of crap) and will make you car FAST for REAL.
