Simple economics in the car world, Any part that constantly has to be replaced and therefore bought, prices for it will increase...It's the simple law of supply and demand. Lexus dealers had to constantly replace these parts (under warranty) when they had these lips on the '92-'94 SC400's, because they kept getting ripped out or were getting destroyed from the rigors of daily driving, Toyota realized that they were losing out on money when they had to constantly replace these lips for free...When the '95-'96 year models came out, Toyota simply didn't put 'em on the SC400 trims (Yet the brackets to mount 'em were still there)...That's why only '92-'94 SC400 models had 'em. And on top of that, modern enthusiasts like ourselves, still have a demand for these lips...That's why they're at a premium.
I have noticed that they are getting expensive, but thats the price you pay when you drive a Lexus. I am seriously thinking of making me one, I have a slight curve in mine that I would like to see gone.
