Ya, my friend has a 90 integra..he's gotten pulled over and singled out many times because of his exhaust. He just got a ticket for it, actually like 4 days ago!

- Rims (illegal)
- HID (illegal)

- Coilovers (illegal)
- Intage (illegal)
- ECU (illegal)
- Torque converter (probably legal, not sure)
- Exhaust (illegal)
- LED taillights (illegal)
No, my friend lives in Southern California (Los Angeles). We were on our way to go to the street race in North Hollywood.
I guess the cops were camped out, looking for racers going by to ticket.

maybe cops are just scared most racers could outrun them

Here in massachusetts, the laws are a lot more strict that the majority of the rest of the country. there are constantly people getting pulled over for cars too low, blinkers that look a little too white and not quite yellow enough, fog lights on when there's no fog or rain, etc...kind of a shame that cops are such hardasses.

I work at a coffee shop and alot of cops come by and i talk to them about cars and stuff.

I asked them if their cars were supercharged, and they said no.

They special order them to be modified as a cop car.

As for the tickets, i guess they just depend on what area you live in, cuz i dont dare set my foot in Old Pasadena, or Monterery Park....two notorious places to get ticketed for.

Cop car packages focus primarily on suspension, transmission, and cooling system. Durability, not horsepower. Truth is, when you consider all the gear those Crown Vics are loaded with - roof siren array, huge med kit in trunk, computer and monitor, etc, they're actually slower than a stock Crown Vic. There are some examples though, cop Caprices had LT1's in them when the public couldn't get them that way (only in the Impala SS), but i've had friends that have owned some ex-cop cars, they are no faster, including the 'legendary' Cop Notch, the coupe 5.0 Mustangs the State Troopers were using. I've driven it, it's no faster than normal. Most of the upgrades on it were a different radiator, SVO Blue Silicone hoses for the cooling system, and a heavier suspension. The LT1 Camaro seems to have replaced it as the State Trooper pursuit vehicle, but still nothing a turbocharged Lexus couldn't easily walk away from ...

Why are rims illegal??? I've never heard of that. What about dealers who sell big aftermarket rims with the car???

Anyways, with exhausts, just cuz you have papers that say that the exhaust is 50 state legal or whatever, that just means that it can pass emissions. Usually, when you bump into legal problems with exhausts it's noise. You gotta be within some specified decibel range. If the cop gives you a ticket, I've heard that you can get it tested in a controlled environment. I've had a few friends get tickets for exhausts and that's what they did. Either that, or they take it off...

I saw some photos were they were testing a crown vic with a V10 and police pack. I think it was called Interceptor. I had a spy pic somewhere and an article. If I find them I will post it.
