Default Swap projector lens?

Hey I had an idea, has anyone swap the stock scx00 projector lens before? I want to have a cleaner cut off line I don't really care for the blue. And yeah I know I can retrofit, I don't want to go and spend hundreds.

I was wonder if anyone has done this before? There are STI-R and ZKW-R clear lens for about 30-50 bucks and wonder if it'll be a big difference from the foggy sc lens

Just go ahead and go all out to an s2k or E36. This has been covered on every car forum and has a huge effect on light output.

Light output I'd nice but I am not willing to spend 500+ on it. Just searching for a quick cheap fix

how is retrofit spending 500 if you're doing it yourself. By swapping another lens for 30-50 you're ultimately retrofitting it. People, such as myself, spend 500+ because they are not confident or don't know the whole retrofit thing and pay someone else to do it. A retrofit can cost you basically around 200-300 for parts, the rest of the money go into the time. If you do it yourself, you basically pay only 200-300. Why upgrade if you're going to upgrade to a mediocre/slightly better than stock lens. Do a clear lense retrofit

my 2 cents

^For good quality parts, it's more than 200-300

Tsx projectors - $160
Denso Ballasts- $110
Phillips D2S 85122+ 4300k bulbs- $65
Wiring harness- $40
Brackets, misc hardware, sealant - $40

These are all ebay prices done on the cheap. Done right you really won't get away with less than $400. Having done 2 retrofits myself though, it's totally worth the price. It's not just about the optics of the lens, but the correct distance and design of the cutoff shield as well as the correct placement of the bulb vs the focal length of the lens.
