Question Buying a SC300 Need Help On Price?

Do you think a 98' SC300 with 40,000 miles in excellent condition with all options auto is worth $27,000 retail. I'm tradind in a lease so this is my only option b/c I can't sell lease to other party.

Thanks,
Robert

Default hmmmmm

Not too experienced at buying cars but the one I bought just recently to do a comparison. I bought a very nice conditioned 94 SC300 with 60k for 13500. With the Lexus 60k service and few taxes to go along i ended up paying around 15000 for a car that people cannot believe is a 94 and it runs like a champ. I am already in looooove!

I would try to buy from an idividual who would qualify for social security who is selling one. Low miles and they do very little wear and tear. Takes some looking but they are out there.

I'm buying the car from a good friend. She bought the car new in 98' and she does not drive it much. However she is a dealer and she will take my lease in on trade so I can can get out of it. I just wanted to know if the car is worth $27,000. NADA has it worth $27,500.

Post TMV

Check edmunds site for TMV (True Market Value) and run the specs. to get an idea what exactly the car is worth in your area.

for comparison's sake, i just bought a 1996 SC300 with 64000 miles for $14,500...fully loaded, all the options, great shape, just some paint swirls which buffed right out. even came with (cheap, $1500) 18" rims, hahah.

More or less. The price people are selling their 98 SC300 seems to be between 22k and 32k.

Is there a reason there is such a stepp price drop when moviugn from a 98 to a 97, or at least there seems to be here in the northeast us?

I don't know what you're talking about. Ground rule is that people don't know how to price the SC. That's why the prices vary so much. My 97 for example should have went for 27k, but I got it for 20k. The big price drop comes with 96 and down because of the chances in the SC.
