If having the button in power mode effects timing tables, I would think 5-speed swap people would benefit from leaving it in that mode correct? I actually just unplugged the switch pigtail when I swapped to 5-speed. Hmmmm......
ok should i drive with the button pushed in? or not? ive been driving with the button out for like 40k miles now
OMG!!!! The O/D button is for your 4th gear. Dont drive around with it off or else you wont shift into 4th and you'll burn up all your gas. The only reason to ever turn off overdrive is to let your gears slow you down so that you dont burn up your brakes when youre going down a steep hill or if youre going up a steep hill and 4th (overdrive) isnt powerful enough to maintain speed.
damn i never thought about the button till this thread i guess ill drive home with the button in and see what happens,
which is better on gas?
I go by the manual and it says "Always set the overdrive switch to the ON position to improve FUEL ECONOMY and QUIET DRIVING" like other members already said the exceptions to this are when you want to use engine braking, when climbing a slope, or when towing a trailer.
