How long should my SC400 take to start?

Hi All, I'm new to Lexus, I've had my 96 SC400 for about two weeks. (150k on it.)
I've noticed that if the car has been sitting over night it cranks for a few seconds (solid 2 seconds) before firing up. But if the car is warm from being driven recently it fires up immediately.
Is this pretty much normal behavior? It runs/drives like a dream either way.
Thanks!

I have a 92 with the same mileage, can sit for a week and will fire up straight away. My guess is you may be losing a little fuel pressure when sitting. Try turning the key on and letting it sit for a second or two with the key in the run position before cranking, see if that helps.

mines the same way..usually sitting itll take a couple seconds 2-4 then other times its immediately ...i wanted to figure this out as well..
but its funny sometimes if i turn the key on without trying to start..let it sit for a second..usually it takes longer to start..if i just get in and immediately turn on the key it fires right up.. definitely strange
92 sc3 here fyi

I am not saying either of these are the case, but it is possible the checkvalve in the fuel system has leak by not having enough fuel pressure on the injectors, in the second case, it is possible you have leak by at the injectors causing a rich condition if you leave the key on.

Well, call me an idiot or whatever, but I fail to see how an engine taking (a whole agonizing) 2 seconds to fire up is grounds for concern. For christsakes's, it's a 15 year old, used car!

this has just started happening to me the other day, like this monday. It used to start right up after i let the fuel system pressurized. Now it sputters to life after about 3 or 4 seconds. Once it's running though it runs just like it used to.

Check your fuel injectors and regulator, car should fire instantly. Fuel filter may be dirty, but injectors should still pressurize. Dirty filter would more affect running consistency than starting.
