Default What's all this about Soarer?

Having just bought my first lexus, a 1998 SC300 last week, I have noticed all of these threads about Soarer emblems and whatnot. I don't want to sound too dumb, but what is a Soarer? is it a nickname for SC's? I've never heard it before.

A Soarer Is The Japanese version of the Lexus SC 400. The Japanese version is, of course, a much better all around model since it is made in Japan. If you'd like more information, just run a search. The websites are pretty common.

There's a nice soarer site under the links section of the lexussc400.com site.

Soarer isn't just a sc400 in Japan .. its the sc300 also but with a 2.5L twin turbo ver. of the same engine.

I think that saying its a all around much better model is debatable sense there almost the same thing.

there's no replacement for displacement!

I rather have the 3.0L and then turbo it ... rather than a 2.5TT

I hate to **** off you guys in the US but the J spec Soarer is generally better equipped than the SC versions;

EMV - Touch screen TV with controls for A/C, fuel comp, etc
3D Digital Speedo
Air suspension, adjustable height on most V8's
100's of options, the list seems inexhaustable but includes,
Rear mounted reversing camera for TV screen display.
LCD auto dipping rearview mirror
Heated & sonic shaker side mirrors
Sonic parking aid - rear
Telescopic parking aid - front
Blah, Blah, Blah.

And last but not least the 2.5TT.

That's very true about breaking more, i didn't even consider reliability when i read about the extras that come with that one.

can you take soarer parts and move to an sc? for example the radio? or do the jdm ones require various parts that make them useless to the american market?
