I want to redo my exhaust for performance factors I hear you can gain a little with a good exhaust and also I don't want it loud or anything, I don't mind it being a little louder then it is now, like a low grow or something but nothing like a Honda "ricer".........

I just want to get the best for my money...

To those who have did a exhaust upgrade (swap)... Have you seen anything in performance factor with your new exhaust installed??

Any other tips would be of great help..............

Thanx again all

Yes, that's the full kit. Steve Ganz got it for me for a great price. Check with him for pricing and make sure you mention you're in CL (and tell him hi for me!)

It's quite a bit louder than stock. The kit is supposed to come with bolt in silencers, but they were missing from mine. I'm still waiting for them to arrive. I expect them to quiet it down considerably.

Don't get me wrong, they sound GREAT, just not the sound you want to hear for 500 miles

As for a performance improvement, not much (if any) on the low end, but it definately revs easier and I seem to hit the rev limiter a lot more than I used too

As for a custom exhaust, hmm... If you have a shop you trust to do good work, use good materials, and stand behind their product, you might save a few bucks going that route. I don't know of a shop like that around here so I went with a commercial setup. No regrets

Don't they cost something close to 1500?
I'd do something else with that money.

wmulli - Hey, does the underside of you car look like this? I'm particularly interested in the length of the factory piping from the center cat (circled in red)...

I'm wondering if the SC300's is shorter then the SC400 or if the location of the cat is farther towards the front of the car in the SC300...

I tried on a single sided JIC exhaust and it was too long here...I would have had to cut the piping all the way back to the cat to make it fit...

Manaray, I was planning on jacking up the car this weekend to change the oil and "stuff". I'll crawl under and try to get pics and measurements then.

Lawman: Just wait another week or two and you can see mine in person. Hopefully it gets here on time with all the shipping delays due to the war.

Manaray, I didn't manage to get any useful pictures of the SC300 exhaust, but I did take a measurement for you. Since there weren't any useful "landmarks" under there (I have a manual trans), I measured from the engine. The distance from the rear of the engine (front of the belhousing) to the flange is 43". Hope this helps. If not, let me know what you need and I'll try again.

greetings from the Ls forum. hey wmulli i just got my jic bullet exhaust in the mail today for my Ls400 and i wanted to know if you had any problems bolting the cat to the new jic exhaust flang? i noticed that the new exhaust is alot bigger and i was scared that the bolts might not line up between the stock cat flange and the jic flange because the flange looks bigger on the jic unit. thanks alot for any info u can provide!!!! i just don't want to crawl under the car and run into any problems. thanks again!!!

Thanks for the measurement. I also did some research on my end and found out that the SC300 and SC400 do indeed have different cat-back lengths...the SC300 is longer by like a foot. I'm waiting to get a JDM exhaust that it made for the Soarer 4.0GT (1UZ-FE just like our US SC400) to make sure it fits...it should...I hope...

wmulli: My JIC exhaust seems to stick out futher than yours. And I agree the sound is nice...but it does get kind of irritating for daily drives, how much did the silencers run ya? Overall I am satisfied with this set up and will get some pics asap.

Interesting story about the silencers... Mine didn't come with silencers either, so I asked Steve about getting some. After discussing it with the JIC folks, they decided to send me some for free. Immediately after that, the JIC website was changed to say they would come with silencers HOWEVER, it's been over two months and several emails now, and I STILL don't have the silencers. In fact, my car just failed NJ inspection because the exhaust was too loud I had to take the JIC's off and put the stock back on to pass inspection! If I don't get the silencers soon, I'm going to have to sell the JIC's and retract all the nice things I've said about them
