My 92 sc4 has just over 150,000 miles on it, I haven't had a problem since I got it last year.
The timing belt was changed at about 120,000 and I checked it out recently and it still looks in good condition.
The only problems I had was the power steeriing pump and the Alt. My major concern is the reliability of the tranny and the Engine, the fluids are fine in both but after the car gets hot you can hear a clicking like a valve is worn or something, it seems to be coming from the top of the engine, what do you guys think?
You can hear it from outside the car if you listen.
It concerns me because my commute will start to be 75 miles a day soon, again you only hear it when the car gets hot, when the engine is cold it's quiet...

Our 93 LS made some ticking as well.... We thought it was valves, when it is really the fuel injectors clicking as the solenoid opens and closes... I'm not sure, but as the injectors wear I think they click louder -especially when warm - some are worse than others, though. At any rate there was no problem, just a normal condition. The official explanation is that the rest of the car is so quiet that things not normally noticed become audible.
The tranny is solid on these, no unusal problems. The torque converter goes out on the LS, but I don't know about the SC- it may have a different one. At around $800 from a tranny shop, the torque converter isn't the most expensive thing... I've never heard of a Lexus powertrain just completely giving up, though, even after 300k miles, they're very solid.
