Default Whoa whats going on here ?

So recently I had a dieing battery issue that I was being lazy to fix. So I just kept charging and going charching and going. I finaly got around to changing the battery out and everything was good. My car is not a daily anymore so it kinda sits for a while, This morning I decided to turn it on and let it warm up a bit. While i am doing that I walk around to the front and i notice this weird goo on the floor right under the area of the battery. I pop the hood and see more weaird goo stuff on the chassis area. So I pull the battery and the tray cleaned it up a bit and pretty much seeing this.....

Sorry for the night time pics I couldnt get any eairly in the day when I pulled the battery....... It looks like its rusting ? there is even a hole the size of dime. WTF how does that happen ? Would I have to get that repaird but cutting that out and welding in a new (newer) peice in ???? What can i do to semi repair this area for now ?

Something has made it leak out. It touches the metal and causes a chemical reaction.

You should have noticed a white powder all on the bottom side of the battery though when you went to charge it.

Were you using a trickle charger or a full-on charger? If you left it on too long it could have overcharged the battery and punctured the casing.

just use a dril with a wire brush and sand all the rust that you can, the by the convert rust can and then apply some white pain you will be fine, in my 240 was worst, also by doing that do like a plastic cover for the battery where it will sit not spill acid again. so pics of the rear when i was triying to fix the 240.

what i use

some primer

paint with some clear not best job but know more presentable and the car was for drift.

Pour 15 makes a hole filler called Pour patch i believe, i know my local napa has it and ive used it a while back and was happy with the results and by the pictures it looks like should work fairly well in your situation.
