Fuel smell when heat is on

Fuel smell when heat is on
So cold season is approaching...
I turn the temp **** to the hot side, and I start getting a fuel smell coming from the vents...
A/C is not on, and when it is on the smell is stronger.
If the temp **** is set to cold side there's no smell.
Anyone can point me in the right direction for a solution?
A/C on/off Temp **** Cold side = No smell
A/C on/off Temp **** Hot side = Fuel smell

Got into an SC at a dealership that had this problem. Dealership keep saying they thought prior owner had a gas can tip over in the back and saturate the carpet. So there was no trunk carpet in this car. Then I told the guy about the evap can and that's probably what it was. Guy was like "Doh "
Car had a million and six miles on it anyway.

How does the smell from the evap can get into the system? I thought their was a seperate canister for AC evap. Sure its not coolant from your heater core? I dont think that Lexus (could be wrong) would connect the Fuel system to the heater system. I mean Gas vapor from fuel hitting the hot heater core.........
