Welcome to the world of Lexus ownership!!
There might be a cheaper alternative than stock, but I'd ask around on this forum to see what the other guys use, as for me, i have the OEM pads in, and they last a quite long time under normal driving conditions.

Try Bendix or some other semi-metallic pad but, not Pep Boys or NAPA. There are cheaper alternatives, you know. Make sure you use a brake paste on the back of the pad and all new shims to prevent squeaking. New anti squeal springs may help also. You can get brake hardware in a kit from the dealership and buy the pads somewhere else.
As for the experience, I used Bendix and they have less dust than the OEM pads.

The stuff at Pep Boys, DAPS, etc are just fine.
I spent $85 on a set of EBC Green brake pads; supposed to be THE BEST... and they were some of the worst pads I've ever had; they put out STUPID amounts of break dust
I've got some generic brand pads from DAPS, they cost $10 and took 15min to install. They are just fine, stop great, and don't put out much dust at all. Just ask my rims

Gotta love Steve Ganz! You just can't beat his pricing anywhere..... Where do I get this anti-squeaking paste at (what's it called) and how do you apply it? I've heard of coating the pads in silicone or something to prevent squeaking, but didn't know there was a special paste. Do the anti-squeaking pads effect braking performance from regular pads? Sorry, I'm a braking dunce.
