Aftermarket Wheel Help..
Recently i purchased a set of 19" axis elite wheels.
After i installed them i felt a really bad vibration in the steering wheel going over 60mph.
I inmediately purchased a set of hub centric rings.. axis told me that the bore of the elite wheels is 73.1 so thats what i told the wheel supplier and he just hand me a set of rings..
Today i put the rings and the steering wheel is still shacking..
I took off the wheel and i put the ring in the hub. it seem that the ring have a really minor play when sit at the hub. Is this normal?
Should i get another set of rings? or what is the ring size that i required?
Any help ill really appreciated.
Thanks

When you say you bought a set of wheels, were they brand new or a used set with tires already mounted?
If it's the latter, it could be the wear pattern of the tires. They have worn in with the suspension geometry of the previous car which could be slightly different from yours.
If it's a brand new set, they could have balanced them incorrectly. The majority of aftermarket wheels are statically balanced using sticky weights near the center of the wheel. Dynamically balancing will have a better chance in the wheels and tires balancing out correctly. A tire can be faulty even though it's brand new, check for any bubbles or separation on the tread or sidewalls.
1. Make sure wheels are flush with the mounting surface and torqued correctly in a star pattern.
2. Check for any loose suspension parts.
3. Have wheels and tires checked, rebalanced.
4. Alignment.

technically they should be 60.1 i will measure that thing tomorrow and take a pic.
Wheels are new, tires are new. Alignment was donw 3 weeks ago.. and for the past 2 weeks the car has been sitting at the body shop.
From my point of view.. it seem that they need to be rebalance.. or they might have been balance incorrectly..
Could it be the ring?
SHould they fit super tight in the hub?
Thanks for the input.

just came back from checking the tires..
no bubbles at all and they are not stretch.. wheels are full face and front 19x8 with 235 35 19, back are 19x9.5 running 275 30 19.
the ring have a litttttle bit of play is not that much i believe..
I know that if the ring is off by couple MM, this could be causing the vibration..
For some reason i believe i need to rebalance the tire/wheel.
Any other suggestion?

Hub rings are hit and miss. Some people experience vibrations without them and some don't.
Other than rebalancing, I'm not sure what else it could be. This could be a stretch but did you happen notice any of the brakes sticking on any of the corners? A stuck pad or caliper could cause a vibration, but that's a long shot though.
Good luck and keep us updated with whatever you find out.

I hate wheel vibration issues too. One of my stock wheels has given me head aches over the past few months and I feel vibration at 70mph. I've gotten an alignment
and two seperate garages have balanced all of the tires over the summer. It sucks
because I commute 80 miles per day. I guess it keeps me out of ticket trouble on the
highways but at the same time it's an annoyance. When I install my 19" wheels during
the summer, I have no vibration. I've used my 19" works with, and with out hubcentric
rings and never have an issue.

updates:
Rebalance the front set and the vibration went down..
however, its still vibrates starting at 60mph..
checked all bushings and they are ok..
Notice that the left side shocks and springs are going out..
Front brakes are done too..
Could it be the hub rings? Im ordering metal ones today..
Any input? help?
thanks

Where are you going for the balancing work?
Were the wheels new?
Since this occurred after you installed the wheels. What happens is usually one wheel is bent. Look for the one with the most weights on it.
Ask the tire guys you go to if they think it's bent. If not have them take all the weights off, break the tire off the bead, turn the tire on the rim 180 degrees. re-inflate & balance.
Also if your not running a staggered setup switch the fronts to rear. You'll feel more vibrations off a bad rim on the front.
Good luck man

wheels and tires were new..
im taking them to tire central, they do amazing job..
However, the last resource is to do this special balance that they offer i forgot the name of it..
Donald suggest me to change to metal hub rings.. i really dont know if that will change anything..
mm im starting to think that the wheel have some manufacturer deffect..
