srry guys, gonna ask a dumb question, but none of my friends know and i havent been able to find the answer yet, so what exactly is na-t?

naturally aspirated-turbo ~ basically a non turbo engine from factory that has been turbo'd

The only real weak link in the vvti block I've seen so far are the rods. Just replace the rods with non-vvti ones and it's good. As far as tuning and making lots of power.... it's true, it's difficult or takes alot of cash... or both I believe.

I'm using a vvti block with non vvti pistons, rods and head.
