^^ you could probably fashion something for less than a kit sells for. its basically just an extended hunk of metal right?
Not necessarily. Here is my shifter relocation from collins:
As you can see, there is actually a mechanism there and also a way for it to connect to the shifter linkage coming from the transmission. I wish i had a picture of it attached to the transmission so that I could explain it better. There are also bushings there.
This makes it so that the base of the new "swan neck shifter" sits just about 31" from the front of the bell housing, or 5 inches back from the center point of the non-tripod W58 swan neck base. Which happens to be right within the hole that is there in the automatic transmission tunnel.

yea it's a little more complicated, i think what i'll do is cut the neck then drill holes and remount it with some plate steel or something. idk i'll figure something out, shouldn't be too difficult.
interesting. probably has to do with assisting the action through the added (or reduced?) leverage that indirect location causes. I bet it would work with just a hunk of metal but would feel awful. physics and what not.
Went for annual State Inspection and the inspector told me it is "Classic" now. Although not required, but they ran the emission test and the numbers were so far below acceptable, that it made me wonder if their machine is calibrated right. I am sure it is!
It is not as fast as modern cars, but the shape and proportions and not to forget the drive ... oh what a dream. Awesome, Awesome vehicle.
The body line purest are going to hate me lol. Can’t do work to my engine currently until after family trip. So I started doing some body work. It looks like complete crap right now.
finally got the engine bay all back together, just missing the middle wire cover which my friend will give me. funny thing is the cam covers and oil cap are from my old car that i parted out and my friend kept some of the parts.
next up is changing the alternator because it's charging to like 13v at 4k rpm, new Denso unit arrives thursday.
