Last week when closing/raising the passenger side window, when the glass reached the top the motor did not stop and had this awful pop. The window was loose in the track and I was concerned the glass had broken. Found a shop with excellent reviews on Yelp and after interviewing the owner operator felt comfortable to move forward.

He did the assessment today and luckily the glass did not break but the regulator was shot. After a quick eBay search found several options including a new assembly from Japan. On its way and should arrive before the end of the month.

Will update after the part arrives and installed.

Replacement passenger side window regulator arrived last week from Japan. On Monday, went to the shop for the install. Even though the picture of the part had a Toyota tag and part number, not sure this was a genuine part or a knock off.

Installed fine and the window does work now. Before the break, that window never did raise and lower cleanly and binds up about 2/3rds down but will open all the way; on the way up it binds in the same place but closes fully. Being a 30+ year old car and being the passenger side, I can live with stopping at a 1/3 mark and avoid another issue in the future. May try and clean the track gaskets to see if that is involved.

Before the process

New part at the bench; made sure the motor assembly fit properly.

Old regulator out of the way. New regulator and motor reinstalled.

Working window.

Job completed.

While it did rain this morning, some brave souls attended the JDM meet. I had to leave early but snapped a few pics below.

Bone stock ‘81 Celica; rare original 14” wheels.

Lineup …..

IS F.

Was asked to raise the hood as many have never seen an unmodified engine bay 😏

Hey V,
Don't feel like the Lone Ranger, I just replaced my radiator which was the original one ('93) with 215K. I picked up one from 1 800 Radiator with a life time warranty at a great price. The one in my '88 325is is at least ten years old from the same people. Good Luck.

Lovin the custom fog lights Dr. Atomica!! Those look so good. Great steering wheel upgrade as well - V -.

Duck - you guys get some great cars out at those little meets. We have a lot of meets out here in Denver, but getting old Toyota's together like that doesn't happen quite as often. Not to mention, when they do, it's always a Sunday night and these days I have a hard time leaving the house on Sunday after dinner haha!

Went to the monthly C&C event today (took the SC but forgot to take a pic; we have all seen enough, anyway). Had low expectations as it was very cold (for NorCal) at mid 30s but this was the largest attendance by far this year. A few interesting cars.

RC F.

Audi R8 with a unique luggage rack.

In progress SC300 project car; very rough but should evolve.

Excellent’96 Corvette; color and presentation immaculate.

Cars wrapped around the parking lot.

Default twice a year interior clean

Did the 1st of a 2 day interior clean that I do twice a year. Get ready for a summer and then for the winter
1st day I do a detergent clean and 2nd day after everything is dry I do the protectant spread over the interior

You get to inspect things pretty well. Holding up surprisingly well, but still the 30 yrs shows. Which is 20 more years you get w any other car. That guys is a "Blessing"
The engine is strong as ever, even here in the mountains. They must have built this particular car in a special way. It still has all its original parts! 🤷‍♂️
