Default the Culmination

This will be a kind of recap of what's been happening. About a yr ago I got a full timing belt rebuild, water pump etc. and a new windshield. The cars 3rd belt and 3rd windshield. A couple of mons ago rewired the engine, plug wires. Couple of weeks ago got a Casterol synthetic blend oil change. I've always done full syn but heard mechanics saying blend is actually better for the engine, I'll see how that goes. Today I got the rear axle fluids changed and all new spark plugs and 2 new rotor caps. I'm sure I'm forgetting stuff.

Man the car really rips like I can't ever remember. 30 yr old car, 300,000 miles hard to believe, all I ever do is maintain it (and drive the hell out of it)
Got the usual comps from folks who were at the shop..."all the time, everywhere". I only mention it cause it just blows me away
Looks to be a good next couple of years 🫰

Some of the places I've been with the Bullet this month:
Arches National Park Moab, Utah, the Parks Scenic Drive...(Crazy)
made for the Bullet

Dead Horse Park, Utah, Moab ...also (crazy)

New center support bearing and flex plate coupler. This eliminated the vibration and whine between 50 - 60 mph.

Where'd you get the parts? I've been really needing this too.

I ordered the center support bearing from Amayama and the flex plate coupler from Kanto Trading on Amazon.
Both parts came directly from Japan.

This is the first time I’ve seen your SC. It’s really clean. Supra looks amazing too!

Default clutch pedal and manual brake pedal

Today I mounted my clutch pedal, and manual brake pedal. The brake pedal seems like it may not be right for this application. Definitely doesn't sit flush with the clutch or gas pedals. The picture doesn't show it well but it looks to only have 2-3 inches of travel... Thoughts?

Edit: I was sent the wrong part - the brake pedal pictured is a Supra pedal. If you're ever buying pedals for your swap. Use SC300 manual brake pedal + supra clutch pedal and you will be golden.

I usually use Meguairs 105 and 205 compounds and a Porter Cable polisher but I ran out of supplies. I found a cheap bottle of Formula 1 headlight restorer at Ross for $4 and it works pretty good.

My SC sits outside most of the time now so the headlights eventually get a little hazy even with a sealant or wax on them. It usually takes me a quick 5 minute pass with the buffer and they look clear again. I assume this is because they only have light oxidation.

My GS300’s headlights on the other hand take longer to polish and still look terrible. Lexus gave them an ugly green tint from the factory and they never look as crystal clear as the SC’s lights. 😞

Finally encountered the intermittent failing fuel pump ECU issue. As far as I know (being the original buyer of the car) this is the original part so 32 years plus in service before the failure.

After assessing options including the bypass jumper option, buying a “new” part, or trying a salvaged part decided to try first a salvaged/reclaimed part via eBay.

A new part is over $700 full price but LexusPartsNow offered it at $480. This company is a broker and acquires the new parts from a group of Lexus dealerships so I was skeptical on availability and age of the part.

The jumper bypass option was considered and if another failure happens will likely try that option.

So, went with a used part on eBay for $100. After swapping in the part the fuel pump engaged and started the car right up. Will leave the back seat out for a while to ensure the problem is resolved.

Original part on the right; replacement on the left.

Back seat removed and part in place.
