Its funny how people want a really good paintjob but dont wanna spend the money. The materials and the time it takes do bodywork prep and paint and buff is very time consuming. I paint cars and always have people asking if ill do it for $700 or cheaper lol. sorry not trying to be a douche lol

Man you guys are getting paint work done CHEAP if you can get a color change for less than 2k. I was quoted $3500 for a color change(jams, bay etc) at one of the best shops I know of in Wilmington NC, and I give them all my business, so I am sure that is a somewhat discounted rate.

Guys it really pays to try to learn how to paint your car yourself.
Now i will admit that it is hard to get a 100% flawless paint job in your garage or on your drivewway but you can get it very close---95% or better.
You can buy a very good HVAC compressor for a couple hundred dollars new-----used even cheaper---------your base coat and clear coat and thinner will run you less than $200.00 the rest is just your own work and labour.
Believe me the first time i did it --had flaws---second time still had flaws----but by the third time i have it down pat--- i finally got the hang of it -----i think my next paint job will be very close to flawless(no orange peel or runs)
practice on an older car or on one of your fenders or doors till you master the technique and right consistency of the paint and pressure on the gun.
The amount of money these shops are charging you is highway robbery if you ask me.
Give it a chance it really isnt that hard at all.
And to those of you that know how to polish with a buffer( i havent learned that yet)you can get a paint job even better than the factory right in your own garage at a fraction of the cost.

those are crazy prices if you ask me. but of course, i always put in my 2 cents when it comes to labor stuff. handing over ur car as it sits and having a painter do EVERYTHING will run alot esp. if they know you roll in a Lexus.
Unless your lexus needs major work, id have it ready just to cover up the glass and wheels. Roll up with no bumpers or lights. haha Saves you a fortune
