how much was YOUR paint job

$3000.00
That included extensive prep work (repairing small dents, dings, wet sanding) and painting the pillars, along with good clear coat, all done in a paint booth. I was quoted up to $5700.00. I have a hard time believing that we are comparing apples to apples for half that price. I think that it is misleading to convince people that they can get a professional quality paint job, with all the correct prep work, along with removing the mirrors, bumpers, and door handles, for under $2-2.5K. I am sure that there are a few "hungry" pros out there, and every once in a while, a great deal can be found. However, most professional, reputable body shops have too many expenses (employee salaries, insurance, state taxes, federal taxes, FICA, etc.), along with a reputation to uphold, so they must charge enough to keep the doors open and provide a good job.

it all depends , sanding down is hard work how about taking the car apart? Are you changing color? are you taking off the mirriors, door handles, bumpers, 1/4 glass out? Painter would also have to prime the car. If you want it perfect you would have to fix all the dents first, then primer it. Then block sand the whole thing, then primer again, then sand again. Pearl white is a 3 stage paint job some of the hardest jobs to do beside kandy jobs. Unless its not kandy. Good metallic job all over with jambs cost around 5k, a Pearl white job 6k and a Kandy job around 7. Its all how perfect you want it done. Heres mine still in progress lots of hours and $ in this project, with me doing most of the prep work, a friend is a good bodyman and another friend is a good painter , still lots and lots of work(black cherry kandy over copper metallic base)
so yeah iv already started blocking back and im wondering if a 3 colour flip paint job would be better but i want 2 know a price on that aswell?
