total production number?
I have had a look at the Production Tables on the LSOC site and I wonder if anyone has taken the time to crunch some numbers and determine how many SC/Soarers were produced from '91 to '00? Or has anyone heard the number from another source?

There's a book called, "Lexus - The challenge to create the finest automobile" by Brian Long. I got it from amazon.
in the back it posts production numbers, total
from 92 model to 00 model is around 100,000
with exports out of japan being around 70,000

Thanks machinegt - -
I read on the front page of the CL site that Lexus has sold almost 30,000 ES300's in the first half of this year - so they will build as many of them in a little over 18 months as they built of the SC in 10 years...
The SC is certainly a production car, but is it a "rare" one compared to other runs of a body style, like one of the Merc SL's? Or, say, a BMW 6- or 8-series?

ES300s sell more because they are cheaper, they are sedans, and they are entry luxury class vehicles---those are three HUGE reasons why they sell more.
The SCx00 was probably outsold in it's day because Mercedes' CLK and BMW's 3-coupe were more coveted status symbols for the prospective $60,000 sport coupe buyer than some other coupe from a no-named company called Lexus . Oh wait, don't they make overpriced Toyotas?? The fact that they kept the same bodystyle for 10 years didn't help boost sales in 2001 either. Or the fact that the GS400 was always faster than her more expensive sister, the SC400. Tisk, if they only put in 300hps into this ride back in '95, they really would have had something to bring to the table.

well, '97 5spd is not EASY to find at ALL.
In fact, you should fully expect to pay a premium for the car. Expect SC400 prices for the same year.
The CarMax's and dealers that say your car's trade in value is lower due to it being a manual is BSing you.
The are the same people that turn around and charge a buyer a premium simply because 5spds are so rare.
Considering some of those 5spds were in accidents... the actual production # in the US may be well under my estimated 200 cars. I was very lucky to find mine. It was in EXCELLENT condition as well as 'certified' so it gave me a peace of mind.
I can tell you that the car still drives better than some of the brand new cars I've been driving.
The styling is also getting more classic with each passing day. The bimmer owners that see their cars on the road as common as a civic, all stare at my car and wonder what exotic that is.
IMHO, '97+ adds a much need fresh look. And the manual gearbox is a must have for any enthusiast. If you eva get a chance to find a '97 5spd, by golly JUMP ON IT!

Sorry guys, I know this is an old topic but I'm a newbie here.
Is there a link that tell me how many 1998 SC400's were made?
A couple posts up says it was 5,000 is this correct figure?

The figure would be closer to 1600 Lexus SC400 produced for the USA 98 model.
Production Figures
The SC400 was produced as the UZZ30 in the Japanese production plants, after August 97 all V8 production was for the Lexus SC400 as the equivalent Toyota Soarer models had been discontinued.
Everything from May 97 to around the end of May 98 in the UZZ30 production table would have been the Lexus SC400 98 Model. After May 98 I'd guess that the models built would have been the '99' model.

Those numbers seem too low, 1200, 900 & 200.
I've seen alot of 2000 sc 400's, Id say the figure may be closer to 2000 or 3000 units. and 98 is probably closer to 5000 or 6000 units. But I'm just guesing.
Where did you read those figures?
Surely Lexus must have these figures published somewhere?
