Default So I changed the transmission fluid @ 130,000+ miles...

with the recommended T4 ATF at the local toyota dealership. The transmission fluid looked bad to say the least. Most likely the first change as the plug broke while being serviced. After noticing a small leak in my driveway, I then checked the fluid level to find out that it has been overfilled by roughly a quart. I've drove about 2,000 miles prior to noticing these problems.
I have considered dropping the pan this time around but fear having it flushed. So this is my question. If this were your SC400 what would you do?
Drain the fluid again or have the excess fluid pumped out? Any help would be appreciated.

takes about 8-10 drain and refills to get almost 100% new fluid in the trans.

Thanks for the response LiCelsior. Just wondering if it is too risky to keep servicing such a high mile vehicle. I've read that it could be a bad idea.

I called City Toyota in Daly City and since the service was done quite awhile ago, They only offered to repeat the service on me of course.

Its never to risky to service a high mile vehicle. But for the transmission fluid you do NOT want to flush at one sitting it will shock the transmission. I say drain refill every oil change until you see the cherry red. Mine was overfilled as well AND it was darker than my oil change which caused the gears to jump. I've done mine once and it is amazing what 14 bucks can do. Haha

Right on SC300jz. I just had my mechanic change the timing belt and water pump as well as a full tune up. So the last thing I need in my life is my transmission to fail lol thanks for the advice.

Another question. Is there an overflow that allowed the excess ATF to leak or did the added pressure break the seal?

wow, didnt know anyone beside me stays up so late... I just had my Trans Cr*p on me and was thinking about flushing it, but also heard doing so might destroy seals. So I'm just waiting for my tranny to replaced right now. Boo.

I just got my first SC300 and it too was over filled, but it was over filled so bad that first gear was not use able! how ever I had a few tricks up my sleeve so i went to Autozone, payed 13 bucks for a can of sea foam trans tune, another 16 on a filter and another 30 on a gallon jug of BM Synthetic transmission fluid. Drain a little fluid out of the trans, poured in half a bottle of Sea Foam transmission treatment and drove the car around for 5 miles as it instructs. First gear and the cars life came back after a mile. Drained the fluid again, filled with cheap transmission fluid, ran it for 3 days, drained and changed the filter. when i changed the filter, the fluid was a nice cherry red color, however i also drained the transmission cooler lines to get all the dirty out. This will help clean the transmission, but not pressure clean like some transmission or shops do that will break seals and leave you with a blown transmission.

Again thanks for the advice. Still wondering if there is an overflow on the transmission that left the leak or did the excess fluid blow the seal.
