I was suggested to get a stock air box to help
My car from running rich?

the previous owner js ripped it off and slapped a generic
Conefilter...

I was wondering if a 95 air box was the same as 96?
-can't seem to find one at any of the junk yards in socal

From my undrstanding and what Ive seen they should be the same. The only years that changed a little are the 98+ and newer models with the VVTi motors.

I really dont think a stock airbox is going to get the car to pass. Usually if your car is running rich its a lazy-bad O2 sensor, Vacuum leaks, or a shot Catalytic converter. Have you had the car tested? What were the results? What did it FAILED?

Yea just checked out a 95 box it isnt the same due to the AFM, thanks djkevin510 for the offer.

I will post the results tmrw on my smog
1st time-if i remember correctly i passed the HC but failed the 25mph run
2nd- missfire caused my numbers to dramatically change failed both runs

After that i had my car check and this was what my mechanic said:
*1st 02 sensor is ok 2nd one is reading to high (car running rich)
*cat is still good
*my cars timing was advanced 15 degrees
-Had a hard time trying to re-time the car, car kept jumping from 10 to 15 degrees
also it had a hard time getting in base timing
*might be knock sensor

if any of you had similar issue pls inform so i can get this car running correctly...
