Default Exterior Door Handle Broken

Hey everyone i was just wondering if anyone else is having the same problem as me. It recently got very cold and my drivers' side door handle of my 98 SC300 will not work. I also noticed that the window will not go down completely either. Is this is an easy fix? I don't have a lot of time to mess with it, you know? Thanks for your time.

normal. sounds like the plastic clip that holds the door acuator rod broke, and now the rod may be in the way of the window, keeping it from rolling down all the way.
stop rolling the window down, in case that's right. fixing a broken rod requires ingenuity, or a new/used acuator ($$$$$)

That's probably it. Forcing your window down can break some expensive stuff so quit doing it. You'll have to pull your door panel and replace the little clip on the pushrod; hope your hands are small.

I had the same problem except that the actuator rod broke off too. Does anyone know how to fix it or how much the part will cost? i tried to figure out where the rod connected to but its difficult to get in there with the small space.

I've heard of people welding the rod back into place but I'd have thought your best bet would be to try and source an entire latch mechanism second hand (can't imagine they are cheap brand new).

Not the world's most fun job though, especially if the head of the window regulator screw is FUBERed can you've got to wedge the latches around the regulator runner without any play in it whatsoever. It is certainly a job I don't ever want to do again.

If your handle stops working guys DO NOT put the window down!!!
