Default SC400-what installation issues for Pioneer FH-P8000 -what headaches to install .

I am getting this unit for Christmas for the wife. SC400 automatic. I saw on one post that there was some cutting, but there are no specifics. Would someone share what I will have to do to get this unit in ....what cutting to get this to fit?
Thanks
Does autodimming work with the SC400 ?

here is what it looks like

If it is a double DIN unit you will need the Metra Kit, P/N 95-8157B. I got mine on eBay for about $26.00.
Don't know about the autodimming feature on theSC400.

As long as you hook up the orange wire which is the illumination wire on the back of the pioneer youR good. When you turn your lights on and off the radio will dim with the dash.

Make sure you get the Metra dash kit and wiring harness, which can both be purchased at Amazon.com.

I don't think any cutting is needed. You may want to use the factory headunit's side brackets since the Metra dash kit's brackets are flimsy.

I don't know whether you have pioneer/nakamichi system to begin with but you still need to bypass stock amp to wire them correctly. (There's some cutting and soldering involved.)

Here's a thread to get you started. Happy reading.

Default My intentions ....Yes its a Nakamichi unit

This is a Nakamichi unit
I intend to use the Pioneer head unit to power the front and rear speakers.
Use the sub out signal to feed the existing Sub Amp unit and existing sub.
I will replace the front speakers.
The link is for non-Nakamichi units.....
Any other info is appreciated.
Hope those of you that have the Pioneer unit give me any input on your experience with the SC400
Does anyone know what harness to use for the Nakamichi system? I searched for both Metra and Sosche websites and did not see a Lexus SC Harnesss....did anyone know what harness to use
Much appreciated

i agree with uras300 you have to bypass the factory amp. it was a pain in the a$$ to get my pioneer in and working properly. just take it to a professional.

Do a little searching. Key words like Nakamichi, SC, amp, bypass in Audio section will do wonders.

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/lex...stock-amp.html

Since there are going to be many specifics, I won't point out exactly what you'll need to do, but if you are not ready to pull back seats, a few interior parts, and run a few wires to the trunk, you shouldn't attempt this. Just take it to an audio shop. Anyways, GL.

Default amps for Nakamichi unit location...

1997There is one amp under the CD Nakamichi unit in the rear of the trunk on the passenger side.
Does anyone know where the amp for the sub is?
Gonna
Use Pioneer head unit for ...
powering the rear speakers (been replaced)
Use a new amp for the front speakers
Use the sub signal from the Pioneer unit to send to the Nakamichi amp and Stock subwoofer.
Does anyone where that sub amp is located? 1997 SC400

Thanks

Not sure on the Nak system but the Pioneer amp for the sub is located between the rear passenger speaker and subwoofer.
Pop off the fuel tank cover in the trunk and you should see it.
