Default power steering pump bad?

I have a loud rattling/squeaking noise coming from the power steering area when the engine is cold but goes away once it is fully warmed up. Is this a sign of a bad power steering pump? The fluid is full in the reservoir and the car is a '95 sc300 with the 5 speed manual transmission, thanks.

I think thats pretty normal to older SC's. My cousin has a 98 with 90k and it does the same. As long as you have ps function then its fine.

Did it sound like this?

I fixed it by draining the PS fluid and putting new in.

It sounds like somebody shaking a paint can next to the ps pump...that clickity clackity sound then as it gets warmer, it starts to squeak and when it is fully warmed up, the sound completely disappears.

I forgot to mention that I do have a jdm aristo 2jz-gte so I have no idea on the mileage of the ps pump.

TacoMonkey, I have the same issue. How did you go about draining the line and what kind of fluid did you use to fill it back up? At this point I think my pump may be shot because sometimes it squeels like that and others it just doesn't work. I also found out there is also air in my PS lines if that has anything to do with the issue

I used a vacuum hand pump attached to one of the return lines and sucked the fluid out while filling with new fluid.

You can find the return line coming back from the ps cooler

Exclamation Help

I also have a loud rattling noise...throughout my entire drive.

And when I turn the wheels it becomes even louder!

Do I have to replace the power steering pump? What parts do I need to get?

Thank You!

Here is my thread, fixed the issue went to a local junkyard and picked up a pump for 80$. To replace the pump took about 3-4 hours of time so not to bad. Let me know if this is the same sounds coming from yours
