just throwing this out there, the transmissions used in the 4runner and Tacoma is a W57 or R150. I towed over 3000lbs a couple times with my 4runner, which had an r151 and never had any trouble.
I knew a guy that towed 2 wave runners with his accord, so I'm sure the SC boosted can handle the extra pull weight with no problem. Those beams running through the trunk are pretty strong, so you should not have any issues as long as those weld are solid.
