Ok does it need the wood trim piece around it or can I put the wood trim that I have now around the new vents?

The wood trim on it broke

And it will crack again...The heating and cooling of the plastic will expand it and contract it many times, and it will not hold. New ones are expensive. Used ones that are not cracked seem to sell for $40 to $50 from what I remember.

New vents are <$100 at lexuspartsnow. You won't get more than that.
