I need to find somewhere to mount my 5-channel amp. It's a kicker zx700.5 which is kinda big at 9"x16". If I put it on a piece of plywood, and liquid nailed it to the gas tank, would that be safe/logical? Anyone have any other ideas? Thanks
That may not be a bad idea. I know those Kicker amps are pretty big, but is have you tried looking at building an amp rack on top of the gas tank? It's possible that it may be too big though.
I don't see anything wrong with that. Anyone see the Mythbusters where they shoot through the gas tank and it won't ignite? As long as it's on plywood and glued, why not?

I saw the episode, LoL makes explosive movies scenes a whole lot different for me. But i have the same idea i am just going to ahve the anchore points for the wood from the bottom of the trunk and top area near the speakers
Is there even anywhere flat on the tank to be able "glue" to? It wouldn't cause any kind of issue afaik, but why not mount the amp to the sub enclosure?

Actually, I don't think there is a flat surface on the tank either...
On my old SC I installed a plank of mdf that was suspended from brackets attached to the car using the holes underneath where the rear speakers are. It cleared the gas tank by an inch or so. I installed two amps onto the MDF board. This is with the stock sub removed. I did not want anything resting on the gas tank.
If your amp is going to be bumpen for any real amount of time you want that thing to get some air so it wont overheat.
I got an Alpine mono for the sub, ,mounted it to a thin piece of plywood, cut out a section in the Gas tank cover and mounted it flush. Hides all the wires and the heat fins are exposed in the trunk. Worked well for me.
