Default Changing out speakers

I got a 1993 SC400

Can you guys tell me the speaker sizes??? (Door/ Rear/ Sub)

I checked on CrutchField.com and it says that none of the speakers fit... WTF!

And my friend has 6 1/2 speakers he'll give me but I think thats too big for my doors.

That is correct the SC400/300 came with some odd ball speaker size. If you need to replace them because they are damaged, you need to go to the dealer or you have to custom make a door panel to fit larger size speakers.
good luck...

That sucks! I looked on eBay and they got these brackets to make 6 1/2 speakers fit but looking at the door, I cant see how those would ever fit.

I had 6 1/2 speakers put in my SC, using the brackets off ebay. to make it fit had to grind down some of the foam on the inside of the door panel. it also depends on what size the door speakers you get are. it's a tight fit with my Focal's but sounds nice..

Yes, there is a little custom work required to make 6 1/2s work in the doors

the stock ones in the front are 4 inch components with a 1 inch tweeter, rears are 4 inch coaxials and the subwoofer is a 10 inch free air. Good luck with the upgrade

Sorry to get off topic, but I plan to upgrade my SC's speakers soon and I was wondering what component speakers would you recommend? I want something that's clean and clear.

Do they make speakers that fit in the stock locations or should I just put bigger ones in?

I got the ebay brackets made out of pvc plastic so I could run 6 1/2" speakers all the way around. I'm no expert but personally I'm running Focal 6 1/2's powered by Eclipse Futitsu Ten amp, and Eclipse head unit, what sold me with Focal was my buddy's EVO IX with top of the line Focal 6 1/2's all the way around with no subwoofer, and about 10 pounds of sound deadening in each door. He let me listen to Metallica - For Whom The Bell Tolls with Symphony.. That sold me.. the 6 1/2's in his car hit like 8" subs, and crystal clear high's and great midrange. But Focal's can be quite expensive depending on how good you want it to sound. Mine were around $500 for a pair.. IMO 6 1/2's sound way better than the factory. I don't believe my car had the premium Nakamichi sound system. Since my car is slow, it's really the only joy I get out of driving my car is listening to music. kinda sad really..

Good info. Cuz the eBay ad says that you don't need to mod anything. Even though cutting away some foam sounds pretty easy...

I just got Pioneers AVH-P3200DVD. And I'm about to get some Cerwin-Vega SS6.2 Speakers. Don't really know which sub or amp yet..

IDK anything about audio stuff... like Amps... (2,3,4 Channels) Maybe you guys can help we with that?

Focal makes by far the best sounding 4" component speakers.

Anyone who wants to buy car audio stuff, get it here. This is were I used to get all my stuff from. http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/

P.S. I have 7" components with a 2" tweeter in the front and 6.5" components in the rear.
