Clint, it's not Lexus' fault that when you hit 2nd gear your soda can gets launched into the back seat

for those ppl who has installed optional cupholder, do you think it's necessary? I know $30-50 upgrade is not much but how`s the quality? looks to me cheap quality from those pictures. Is it useful? if it is, I`ll order next week.
Thanks for your input.

LOL, too true Lex.

ACleanSC4,

Have you though about putting up a "how to" in the ClubLexus forums? Sounds like you've got the info ready to go.

I agree the cupholder has a lot of faults - too small, too flexible - I think it's cheesy - but the gaping hole in the dash was cheesier - so I bought mine to fill the hole, hardly ever use it - -

I got those cup holder from Carson Toyota, Steve Ganz, for my SC400s. For driving around town, you don't need it but it look good when a passenger doesn't know what it is and pull the holder out. It is necessary if you have a pass. (wife, girlfriend) and you both have something to drink. On my trip to CA last month, we always have more than 2 things to drink at the same time, so the second cup holder in the SC was a necesscity for me. Don't ask me what the third drinks was

I filled that silly hole with a cellphone mount for my handsfree kit. ProKit makes a bracket that bolts up directly in that hole and leaves what ever you mount on it facing you on the right side of the dash. Best part is... I can still fit my wallet in the slot with my cell phone on the mount.

the cupholder is pretty worthless. It cant hold a full drink. Maybe an empty soda can, but thats it. BUT everyone who flip's it out is like "wooooow thats sooo cooool".

Hey guys, here is the quick way to install the cupholder:

01-Press the Shift Lock Override button and pull down the stick into Neutral. Make sure your handbrake is pulled up.

02-Pull down the plastic piece at the bottom of your shifter and remove the 2 screws & pull off your shifter completely.

03-This is what it should look like.

04-Open the lid of your cup holder and with some force, jiggle it around and pull it out. There are two screws holding the trim down, so remove those.

05-Remove the entire piece around the shifter. It is held down by about 4 clips which pop right out.

06-After you pull it up, disconnect the 2 cables that are connected. There are 4 more screws that you need to remove in order to pull out the trim.

07-There are about 4 clips around the top and side of the trim that need to be popped out. Once they're all popped out, gently pull the entire piece out towards you.

08-Reach behind the empty slot and pop out 2 clips that release the piece shown.

09-Pop in the cup holder into the empty slot.

10-And Tada! You now have a cupholder!

11-The finished Product

Much easier to drill a small hole in the cover plate...then stick a paperclip in it and PULL. That little throw away plate pops right out.

That saves you all that work for NOTHING...
