I put up a thread a couple months ago on my finish with carbon vinyl,SEM Landau blk/Camel tan combo and I was happy with the outcome but,it started chipping on a few spots recently.Nothing bad just tiny spots mostly around the door arm rest(and center)and steering wheel.I thought I had prepped it pretty nicely but,I also read some people used the prep spray etc.from SEM.Just be sure to properly prep prep prep it cause I've only heard good things about SEM too.

I've heard that the upper dash is fun to remove. I've seen the DIY, I'll leave that for a long extended weekend.

honestly if the interior is mint in tan..i wouldnt touch it..id either swap it out selling your mint pieces(plenty of people with nasty tan int. that are in need of replacements) and buy black parts..they are harder to come by but not impossible and would be best imo...

either way good luck..

Since you asked for opinions, I'll throw my 2 cents in. I'd rather have a very clean tan interior any day of the week than a painted black interior. And maybe it's the area I've lived in, but every car I've seen with dyed fabric and painted panels tends to look terrible. Some carpets look really bad after being dyed (I'll admit some have looked good), but a carpet you can get away with. And there's something about the texture of painted panels, it just never feels right. Not only that, but if you do it you have to do everything and then there's no turning back. Plus there's cleaning painted panels. Do you live/work in an area with gravel roads or where dirt and dust can get in your car easily? The only time I've really seen a painted interiors work is on show cars that're never driven.

Besides, if you've got an older SC, you're a step ahead of the game if you've got a nice interior. When I was car shopping almost every SC I sat in had ripped up seats, broken door panels, and damage of some kind on the panel. If it's a car that you truly love and plan on keeping it years and years down the road then take the time to convert the interior the right. Your car and how it looks and performs is a reflection of you and your dedication to your SC.

^ +1. You cant go back if you turn out not liking it.
I also have a MINT tan interior. My plan was to buy a good condition complete black interior, and then sell my tan interior recouping most of the cost. If I'm a few hundred in the hole then I would be fine with that, just the cost of having a black interior..

Remember guys this is just my opinion but I'm going to throw out there my 0.02 again on this matter.

There are several of us on this forum with SEMed interiors and from what I have read for the most part are happy with them. SEM is not paint, but an actual dye that adheres to whatever surface you spray it on (leather, vinyl, or plastic pieces).

IMO you can SEM dye just about everything in the car besides maybe the seats, steering wheel, and shifter since all those other pieces will never be touch that much or if ever. After you SEM pieces you don't ever need to put armor all on it, just clean it with a towel that was soaked in baby shampoo and rinsed off.

I put pics of my interior that was SEM dyed over a year ago and it still looks like this to this day. The only thing that has changed is I now have black seat belts and black floormats. The only thing that has worn out is the shifter, which I knew would happen but will purchase a real black one from aliga as soon as he has another one. I think the black and tan combo is the best since it's still kind of luxury with the tan and sporty with the black at the same time.

Believe me my tan interior was flawless yet I still went ahead and did this. My biggest problem with buying a real black interior is that it will be next to impossible to resell your tan interior, no matter how good the interior is. The only things you may sell are your seats, door panels, and maybe your floormats.

Believe me if you want to go for the real thing that is all good. For those on a budget and don't want a whole bunch of left over tan parts I prefer my route. The only thing in my garage right now from my interior are my seat belts.

Well after hearing opinions of those on this forum and my friends from the car shows they said keep it tan, so it shall stay tan. Also my 92 has heated seats lol. I never see any SC's with heated seats when I look at the ones near me.

I'd go with the full black interior or even the two-tone one like P.R.S.22's. It makes the interior look like a new car.
