Glad you're okay, OP. And yeah, it will buff right out. You may need a more aggressive cutting pad, but that's workable for sure.

Driver behind's fault? How are you able to see if someone is braking when they have no brake lights?

You should still maintain proper braking distance.

What if the person in front of you never brakes but hits a wall or a still object. Is it his fault if you hit him... NO. I can tell you... as someone with knowledge in this field... If you do the hitting, 99% of the time, you are at fault. In this instance, it is the OP's fault he hit his cousin, not his cousins fault. His cousin is a toolbag for not having brakelights but thats neither here nor there.

Brake lights are for other people's safety and without them... other people aren't safe.

While I agree, you are required as a driver to maintain a safe follow distance. If the car in front of you suddenly grenades the tranny and slams to a halt, there will be no brake lights. If you hit that car, it's your fault - guaranteed. And as I said, it sucks he didn't have them, but it's still the OP's fault.

also all you freaking toolbags, so youre gonna put down youre family member for a freaking car, or even youre freind?

id drive over sc over cliff for family or close freinds, turn around and buy another one, thats all it is to it, its life and **** happens

to the op, keep youre head up, arm yourself w some wrench and strip all the bent broken parts, buy them used, throw it on and get it painted,
