SC400 1UZ Timing
I have a question. I am replacing a bunch of stuff on my 1UZ and I have the distributor caps off. It has been my experience that when the engine is at TDC the rotor should be pointing to the #1 cylinder on the distributor cap. I have the crank pulley at TDC. The marks on the cam pulley line up. BUt the rotor on the LH side where the #1 cylinder fires from is pointing down and nowhere close to where it would hit the #1. maybe I am just looking at things wrong. I just want to see if there is something special. The engine was running good prior to me tearing into it. I have not adjusted any timing components.

never mind I think I figured it out. I found another post.

If you scroll down it shows a clear picture of homw my engine looks right now. There are notches/lines on the distributor housing and if the engine is at TDC the cam marks line up and the distributor rotors should be pointing at the marks on the distributor housing. I need to inspect my distributor cap a little better.
