SC300 or SC400?? (Just asking cuz of your handle )...

Hmm... I'd recommend...

SC300 - Custom exhaust system, intake, turbo kit (or tuned length extractors if you're not going turbo)

SC400 - Custom exhaust system, intake system, tuned length extractors (headers)

Beyond a doubt - Get a Torque converter and I doubt you'll ever lose off the line ever again. After that - NOS

Intake and exhaust mods more often than not will deminish all around power. But if you go the NOS route, the exhaust will need to be opened up if you go over a 100 shot.

Try:
http://www.swiftracing.com/

I have had overwhelmingly great customer support from them - Mo is a great guy. I would reccomend buying from them just for the customer satisfaction alone, but feel free to shop around for price. Though I think they have the best price too.

The TC is a Precision Industries "Purple Dragon". Specs are on the website.

Default torque converter

Ok,
After alot of careful thinking Iv'e decided the torque converter is what I want (the other consideration was the ecu rebuild.) The issue is the price. I want the precision industries "dragon" TC, so far ive found swiftracing offers it for 950, precision industries directly for 938, and ironically lexuspros.com, which ALWAYS has the highest price has it listed at the lowest price of 899. So what do you SC owners pay for your dragons and where did you order them from? Also, what was the installation cost? I dont think i'm advanced enough to remove my whole transmission to facilitate the switch so Im going to expect a few hundred in intall fees

for the "dragon" TC expect to pay in the 900's. As for the install expect to pay anywhere from 400-700.

SC400-V8,

Give Carlson Toyota a call. I believe they have a group buy going on, $859.00 + (Drop Ship) $16.00.

Be careful with Swift Racing, their customer service is so "nice" that they don't want my money. My last two emails were never answered, one was sent two days ago, and one a month ago or so.

i would go with a turbo... but then again, i think i'm addicted to them since my last 2 cars have been twin turbo's

I don't believe a torque converter will do anything to your mileage.

So you guys think the torque convertor are a better deal than the ECU upgrade. 50hp AND 100 TQ over 0.5 of the line better start? To each his own. But what is the 0-60 time with the ecu upgrade and i personal think that it will give you more than 0.5 that TC claim. Plus ( i don't know for sure) the ECU upgrade give you better chances for more HP w/ intake, exhaust, headers, etc. Please correct me if i am wrong. :thumbdown

i believe a TQ will only just help you put the power from the engine to the floor better. It won't ADD any hp.

Remember, these numbers are off the line. I dunno if it will affect the outcome of a 30-100 roll.

it all depends on what you want to do. If you like the race from a dead stop then i think you'd like a TQ better because of the better response on launch. The TQ however does not add HP. If seriosuly want to run for cheap you should do the NOS route.
