Cluster issue(s)...
I hate making new threads and sounding like a forum noob but I could not find the information that could help me. Everything I found was about auto to manual cluster swaps.
With that being said I have a '93 SC300 w/ a 1JZ and the factory W58 that came in the car from toyota. The cluster is... well garbage. When the swap was originally done we got the tach and the temp gauge to work. Which was fine for the previous owner but I cant stand ALL the gauges not working. The speedo only gets up to maybe ~30mph (in reality im doing around 80mph) and the gas gauge doesnt move (but the low gas level light still comes on when gas is low). On top of that half the lights are out. Now I imagine that I could have a place rebuild the cluster for a decent amount or I could just get a cluster from another car.
I guess I need to know that are the clusters manual/auto specific? Could I use an auto cluster or do I need a manual cluster? Would it be easier to just bite the bullet and have the one in the car rebuilt?
Sorry for all the reading, I figured more info the easier it'll be to help.

first off pull the cluster out of the car and take off the rear cover on the cluster. Make sure all the screws are tightened on the PCB. If one of those screws around the gas guage is loose that will cause the guage to fail.
if you can get the gas guage working then i would say send it in to be rebuilt. Your going to have a VERY hard time finding a cluster in good condition (they are getting close to 20y/o now for the 92-94 model)
or if you can find one thats been rebuilt recently go for that

Well I took the cluster out and tightened down the screws behind the gas gauge, but to no luck. Now I guess that leaves me with rebuilding or going with an automatic one... which sucks.
