Honestly if you are kinda into the whole blue look, the 6k's aren't overly ricey.
I cannot stand it when a crx or malibu or (insert cool guy trying to show off) is coming down the road with 10k HID's installed and their lights literally look as blue as the sky.
So go 6k if you want a slight blue hint, or 5k if you don't want to look ricey at all and just have a solid bright white light.
Of course 4500 is going to give you your best light output. All OEM manufactures use this kelvin because it produces the most light output. The color shift you see in the benz / bmw / tsx is from the cut-off shield in the projector, not the bulb itself.

Alot of the color difference will depend on the wattage on the ballasts.
The headlight bulbs in the picture were 6k's
They were actually a bit too stock looking so I changed them out to 8k's to try and match the LED's in the foglights
(this is with 55w ballasts, they are still pretty white btw...)
