I just purchased a 1992 SC400 from a friend.
The car belonged to his mom and dad, whom I also knew, and has not been driven for a few years.
It has 76k miles, and is in very good shape. A few, very shallow door dings; some stains on the carpeting and door panel; some lines on the driver seat leather.
I registered the car with Lexus.com and learned that the outside color is called Silver Spruce Metallic. The site did not tell me the name of the inside color which appears to be a grayish blue (mid tone).
The local repair shop inspected the car and thought it was in excellent mechanical and appearance condition, including the paint. Because of the age they recommended I replace the timing belt, tentioner, water pump, etc., which I did. This seemed to be the only item not on the maintenance records I received with the car. The tires (Pirelli Super Sports) were flat, and the sides were cracked at the tread from not being driven for a few years. They held the air I put into them, but because of the cracks and flat spots, the shop recommended I replace the tires as well.
My intent is to restore the car to the original condition, which seems to amount to very little work as described above. I will have the dings repaired and the car detailed. This just leaves the tires.
I have researched tires for the last week and am considering a couple of choices. I would like to make sure that they are correct for this model and would appreciate your advice.
They are:
BFG GForce Super Sport AS
Kumho Ecsta ASX (my son has these on his Audi A6 and recommended them).
Both are Z-rated P225/55R16.

I have kumho's on my Cadillac STS, their pretty nice for the money. They are just over half of what the factory Michelins cost.
