I checked with SCE and they do not have copper gaskets for 1UZ engine.

VSsc400,

I called SCE myself few months ago. They do have .093" copper head gasket for 1UZ-FE. Tell them is for SC400. Call again and also for another tech. THEY have it for 1UZ-FE

I know this is probably not the best way to lower compression. but how thik of a gasket do I need to get the stock compression down to 8.5:1?????

I dont think .093" gasket would lower to 8.5:1. I talked to the tech from SCE. He said with the above thickness, i would lower about one compression ratio.

To lower more than that, some head work would help. Once i sell my Cobra, i will get a SC400 and take the engine out. I would order custom JE Dish Forged Pistons. Dish pistons would lower to 8.5:1.

Even if we can lower one point should be good enought to run 15 psi.

if I'm not mistaken 1UZ-FE compression is 10.1:1 so lowering it 1 ratio will bring us to 9.1:1. I'm not sure but it may be too high to run a full bar.....

Healer, you're going to lower CR with headwork? You're going to open up the chambers and CC them after? The 2JZ-GE is routinely lowered w/ a thicker head gasket from the oe 10:1 down to 8.5:1, shouldn't be too big a deal to get down to 8.5:1 or 9:1 from the 1UZ's oe 10.2:1 or 10.3:1 (depending on year). If guys have to redo their shortblock and change out the pistons just to put some boost in, then you'll find very few ppl willing to do it. Again, i've warned you healer, a little bit of knowledge is more dangerous than none at all!

What are talking about? Read me posts.... I dont care what you do. If i want to get custom JE Dish pistons, i will get it. If I want stronger Rods, i will get it. If I want better rings, i will get. What is wrong with what i said?

Everybody's real brave over the internet...... lex400sc, do me a favor and remove this gentleman's offensive remark, David, I won't even respond to you, except to say that i've gotten more than one PM/e-mail from others, saying you don't know what you're talking about, matter of fact I just got one last night. I just want to keep you from mis-informing ppl, which I find you doing constantly. Take your own advice and read your own post dude, you told Dennis that to get the CR lower, 'some headwork would help.' Now be a man and apologize, no need to talk to me like that, and I guarantee if we were face to face, you wouldn't be so brave, no one is. You talk lots, but I suspect if I ask you to scan in your fastest timeslip and post it for us, you'll come up with some excuse .................
