Unhappy

well, the intake for the SC400 came in today..

it's a half unit that uses the stock MAF.

I'm going to email the place that i bought it from and send it back ASAP. Does the dissapointment show in my face

sorry for the delay in replying.
i bought it from nopi. i contacted injen and at first they told me that they do have an intake and even got me a part #. it was the same part # i ordered. I replied and got another email by someone who knew what they were talking. he was informative and basically just said that i indeed got the correct one and they don't offer a full blown intake.

anyways, here's the pic i promised. there are 2 bends in the unit (first is a medial bend and the second is a slight lateral bend), the first bend and then a second bend toward the end. it looks great! too bad it uses the stock maf or else i would have kept it.

sorry for the cruddy quality in the following pic, it was taken through the plastic bag and initially looked ok in the lcd (i sharpened it up). I was looking for a full blown, single piped intake. As you can (hopefully) see, the injen (and basically any other aftermarket intake for the '400) uses the stock airflow sensor plate. to me, it's a shame to see a beatiful flowing intake go into a 'blockular' piece of dull metal. I was looking for something like SRTs intake (like the one available for the GS4 as an example)where, the sensor bolts right into the single pieced intake. Looks really clean.

my initial emails w/ nopi was if the Injen SC4 intake was a full replacement. they said that they believed it was and I asked if I could return the intake if it turned out that it wasn't, they said yes. All the companies I've dealt w/ about this intake have been pretty cool about it so no complaints. Just passing along info about the injen intake for the SC4.

as for whether or not pieces were missing from the unit... depends on what you're looking for. In my case, it is missing a tube to replace the airflow sensor plate but the actual product doesn't do that, it has an adapter to attach to the airflow sensor plate, so in that case it isn't missing any pieces.

does anyone have any information about performance of this intake? I could care less whether it is shiny or if it looks nice.
after last night at the track and seeing the same car as mine only with an injen intake have a 0.4s quarter mile time than me. I am starting to question the bigpond soarer information there.
And comparing to madmax info awhile ago (he only has an intake), i want to think that the intake is doing some good.
